At Sunset Ridge Church & Collective, we believe in the flourishing of one another and our neighborhood. For 76 years, Sunset Ridge Church has been a faithful presence—rooted in Christ’s love and committed to our community. In recent years, through the Collective, we’ve expanded that mission by opening our campus more widely and creatively to serve and connect with our neighbors.

This growing ecosystem now includes Sunset Ridge Church, Sunset Ridge Collective, Charis Park, One Another Coffee, Sunset Ridge Farmers Market, and Sprouts School—all working together to create spaces of belonging, restoration, and creative possibility.

Role Summary

The Communications Manager is the storyteller and strategist behind Sunset Ridge Church & Collective’s public voice. They shape and share our narrative with clarity, creativity, and care—whether through weekly newsletters, digital content, or visual storytelling. This person ensures our communications reflect our values and connect meaningfully with our community.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and gifted communicator who thrives in both planning and production. They are energized by collaboration, attuned to beauty and meaning, and grounded in the rhythms of local life.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Maintain and continue to develop a holistic communications strategy that reflects our mission and seasonal rhythms.

  • Develop seasonal campaigns or storytelling series to highlight the work of our programs, partners, and neighborhood.

  • Manage an integrated content calendar across all Church & Collective entities.

  • Align messaging with key leadership (e.g., pastoral and program leads).

  • Review and refine current communication efforts and recommend improvements.

  • Stay informed on best practices in nonprofit, church, and community-based storytelling.

Newsletters & Online Media

  • Coordinate production of two weekly newsletters.

  • Create and collaborate on engaging, brand-aligned content for online platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube, for Sunset Ridge Church, Collective, and associated initiatives.

  • Monitor engagement and adapt strategies to strengthen community connection.

  • Respond to comments and inquiries with warmth and professionalism.

  • Maintain consistent tone, voice, and visual identity across platforms.

Website Management

  • Regularly update website content using Squarespace for Sunset Ridge Church, Collective, and associated initiatives.

  • Coordinate with staff for larger updates under the supervision of Deputy Director.

  • Ensure web presence supports broader communications goals and event promotion.

Photography & Videography

  • Capture key moments in community life (e.g., services, markets, events).

  • Maintain an organized digital asset library for internal and public use.

  • Guide relevant staff in capturing occasional photo & video content.

  • Coordinate contract photographers and videographers for seasonal and as-needed professional documentation.

Event Promotion

  • Work with Graphic Designer under established brand guidelines to develop signage, slides, and print collateral as needed.

  • Ensure cross-platform consistency in event marketing and storytelling.

  • Craft thoughtful post-event summaries and visual recaps.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills

  • Strong copywriting and editorial skills.

  • Proficiency with email marketing platforms and social media management tools.

  • Experience with website content management systems (e.g., Squarespace).

  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities and timelines.

  • Basic graphic design using Canva or equivalent design platforms.

  • Comfortable working collaboratively across a multi-faceted organization.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit, faith-based, or community-centered work is a plus.

Bonus Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field—or equivalent experience in a professional communications role.
