“No matter how difficult, life is beautiful. No matter how beautiful, life is difficult. This is the great paradox that opens the heart and brings compassion.”
– Julia Cameron

One Another Coffee is now officially open!
The trailer’s permanent power source was successfully installed and now they can reliably make all the espresso drinks and drip coffee while also keeping their baristas cool with a/c!
Big shout out to Kyle, Hunter, Nathan, and Riley who helped dig the trench for conduit!
The coffee trailer’s hours are 7am-1pm weekdays, and 8am-1p weekends, closed Wednesdays and Thursdays.
They’re also hiring baristas with 1-2 years of experience, so send your resume to hello@oneanothercoffee.com if you’re interested!

Message from Jess:
Glimmers.
It’s a new-to-me word I read about this week but a concept that has been increasingly at the forefront of my mind.
According to coach Sarah Jackson, glimmers are the opposite of triggers. They are small moments of goodness or beauty that help to regulate our nervous system. They instill peace and evoke joy. They cue safety to the survival brain.
I know we’ve been talking a lot lately about the state of the world around us and our role in it. Last night in our worship service our friend Dick Ihfe shared his research on the cultural need for transcendence. We have become so concrete and fixated on what we can see and touch (permanence) that we are missing what our hearts, souls, and minds need—a connection to mystery and what we cannot see—to what is transcendent.
In her book Enchantment: Awakening Wonder in an Anxious Age, author Katherine May writes: “Enchantment came so easily to me as a child, but I thought it was small, parochial, a shameful thing to be put away in the rush towards adulthood. Now I wonder if I can find it again.”
I propose that we start with glimmers. Glimmer-seeking means that we look each day for those moments of goodness and beauty. For me over these past couple of days it was connecting with a soul friend, it was hysterical dancing with my family, it was the way the chapel window reflected in the communion cup, it was a beautiful mosaic gift from our friend Betsy, it was a moment of sincerity, it was a cup of One Another coffee by the garden.
I invite you to join me in glimmer-seeking. Find what is good and beautiful around you each day. Finding what is not good is too easy—it’s everywhere. But I believe if we can connect to something deep within ourselves and far beyond all of us we will also find the courage and strength to get up and carry hope and love into another day.
Love, Jess
