Look well into thyself; there is a source of strength which will always spring up if thou

wilt always look.”

WHAT’S GOOD

As we look to June, we’re excited about the Good Acres Summer Soirée, happening Thursday, June 12, from 6:00–8:00 PM in Charis Park.

There’s something sacred about gathering around a table—especially when it’s set with a meal made from ingredients grown right here in our community. At this upcoming event, neighbors will come together over a locally crafted menu to share meaningful conversation and dream about what’s possible. It’s a space to listen well, imagine boldly, and begin building the kind of neighborhoods where everyone can belong and thrive.

Proceeds from the evening support Good Acres, a program of The Impact Guild. Good Acres helps churches reimagine the 3,000+ acres of underused land they steward across San Antonio, turning it into something good—for food, housing, jobs, and creation care. With training, tools, and trusted relationships, congregations are empowered to say yes to the needs just outside their doors.

Movement Meets Mindfulness

Kimberly Turner, Health & Wellness Specialist, Founder, Nyx Wellness

I started coaching 18 years ago and in that time I have worked with nearly every age; from around 7 years old all the way up to 101. In all my years of training I have foundthat the benefits we gain go well beyond just the physical. Exercising is one of the single most beneficial things we can do for ourselves as we age. I wanted to take a minute to share something I’ve been seeing over and over again with the clients I train, the amazing benefits of combining fitness and yoga.

Most people think yoga is just stretching or that working out is just lifting weights. But when we bring both together, something really awesome happens: People feel stronger, more balanced, more energized, and just better all around. Here are a few real-life benefits my clients are experiencing:

More Strength

Building muscle isn’t just about lifting heavy; it’s also about moving better and more confidently. Adding yoga helps support and stabilize those strength gains.

More Mindfulness

Yoga helps us slow down, breathe, and tune into what our bodies really need. That mindfulness can spill over into the rest of life, leading to less rushing around, more being present.

Better Balance & Flexibility

Whether you’re chasing kids, walking the dog, or just getting up from the couch, good balance and flexibility make it all easier (and safer!).

Everyday Things Get Easier

Bending, lifting, reaching, climbing stairs, all those little things don’t feel so hard anymore. It doesn’t take long either, you’ll notice the difference in your daily life pretty quickly.

Less Pain, More Energy

My clients have noticed their joints hurt less, their backs feel better, and they have more energy to do the things they love. Win-win!

Combining yoga and fitness isn’t just fun and trendy; it’s a powerful approach to building a stronger, more balanced body and mind. While fitness training develops endurance, strength, and cardiovascular health, yoga enhances flexibility, mental clarity, and recovery. Together, they create a well-rounded foundation for lasting health and wellness. Whether you’re aiming to reduce stress, prevent injury, or simply feel more connected to your body, integrating both practices can transform your health from the

inside out.

Step onto the mat, pick up the weights, and discover what’s possible when movement meets mindfulness.
