Spurs Finals Watch Parties at Charis Park 🏀
The Spurs are in the Finals, and we're celebrating with our neighbors! Join us at Charis Park for watch parties as San Antonio takes on the New York Knicks for a championship. Doors open at 7 PM with tip-off at 7:30 PM through Game 5 (if necessary): Monday June 8, Wednesday June 10, and Saturday June 13. All events are weather permitting. If the series goes longer, we'll keep you posted! Food and drinks are welcome—just leave the outside alcohol at home. Come hang, cheer loud, and let's bring that trophy back to San Antonio together. Go Spurs Go! 🏆

3…2…1...beeeeeeeeep.
The game was over.
The Spurs had become Western Conference Champions. An outcome that many doubted. After all, the Spurs went 34 - 48 last season.
My husband and I locked eyes in our living room and knew what we had to do. We piled the kids
into the car and went...honking.
We drove down Broadway and joined the parade of Spurs fans. We waved to friends that came out to celebrate, too. We passed grandmothers who had stayed up well past their bedtime, children in their Wemby jerseys, and people cheering from sidewalks and parking lots, their flags flying high. We exchanged high fives with complete strangers.
The cacophony of horns, victorious screams, joyful music, and a Western Conference Championship trophy on its way home created undeniable energy. But it was the beautiful coming together of such a vast and diverse community that made the night memorable.
We were all cheering for the same team.
We were all united in a joyful victory.
For a few hours, we belonged to one another.
I found myself driving home, coming down from the excitement, wondering how we recreate that kind of camaraderie on the ordinary days—the days when there isn’t a championship to celebrate.
I very quickly realized that the Sunset Ridge Collective was answering that question every day.
Charis Park draws people young and old from across the neighborhood to enjoy its shade trees, benches, and greenspace. The Sunset Ridge Farmers Market Saturdays, Scott’s Pizza, Full Moon Fridays, yoga in the park, garden workdays, lingering a little longer at the One Another Coffee community table-—these are all opportunities to slow down, meet one another, and practice being neighbors.
In fact, on any given day, I can walk to Sunset Ridge and find a friendly face, a good conversation, a meaningful connection, or learn something I didn’t know before.
The Spurs may have given us a reason to honk.
But community is built differently.
It’s built through repeated encounters, shared spaces, and the small acts of showing up for one another day after day.
A Spurs victory is always welcome.
But honking isn’t always necessary to build community.
Sometimes all it takes is a park bench, a cup of coffee, and a willingness to say hello.
