“Great stories happen to those who tell them.”
- Ira Glass

WHAT’S GOOD

This week, we’re celebrating the voice behind the voice: our Communications Manager.

They’re the storyteller and strategist who helps shape everything you see and hear from Sunset Ridge—weekly newsletters (like this one), videos, social posts, and more. With clarity, creativity, and care, they help us speak in a way that reflects our values and keeps us connected.

We’re currently hiring someone who’s both thoughtful and hands-on: someone who loves big-picture planning and the details of design and words. Someone who finds meaning in the rhythms of local life, and who sees beauty in the work of telling our shared story well.

Sound like someone you know? Send them our way.

Great Stories

Mae Czarnecki, Communications Manager, Sunset Ridge Collective

For the past few years, I’ve had the honor of telling the stories of this community. In ways that hopefully helped you pause, reflect, and see yourself more clearly as part of the unfolding good in the world. I have captured glimpses of growth through my lens, edited testimonies that stirred me to tears, and tried my best to make sure beauty didn’t go unnoticed.

As I step away from my role as Communications Manager, I do so with deep gratitude. To those who trusted me with your story, who opened your classrooms, gardens, sanctuaries, and lives to a camera or a conversation, thank you. This place has shaped me as much as I’ve tried to shape its message.

A few quotes come to mind as I reflect on my time here:

  • “Great stories happen to those who can tell them.” – Ira Glass

  • “If you don't stick to your values when they're being tested, they're not values: they're hobbies.” – Jon Stewart

  • “Never be within doors when you can rightly be without.” – Charlotte Mason

These words have shaped me the past 15 years, and even more so on this campus. Through creative tension, honest writing, outdoor gatherings, and a commitment to truth over trend. I’ll still be around campus with my camera from time to time and will continue to guest-write when invited. But mostly, I’m making space to grow into the next phase of my creative calling that I’m grateful was given the room to grow here.

Sunset Ridge Collective is hiring.
If you've ever felt the nudge to tell stories, to write something that makes someone feel seen, maybe it's your turn. Maybe your values, your curiosity, your gift for noticing are the exact things this community needs next.

Whether or not you apply, I hope you remember: your story matters. Your presence in this city matters. The Goodness we’ve been sharing in this newsletter doesn’t exist without our shared experience.

With love and thanks,
Mae
