What’s Good?
This past week our youth group went on an adventure to Escape The Room! Thanks to the help of our gamemaster, Riley Stirman, and our expert at escaping, Chelsea Stirman, both teams were able to get out before their hour was up. Riley’s team took on The Dig and Chelsea’s team dominated The Western Bank Heist. Our teens had the best time and are geared up for more summer events to come!
If you’re interested in knowing more about future youth group events, please email chelsea@sunsetridgechurch.org

Message from Jess:
Over the past few weeks I’ve been repeating the poem “Tired” by Langston Hughes in my head. It’s been constantly resonating with me as I experience a higher than normal level of tiredness in my heart and body.
When I sat down over the weekend to find some quiet time to listen to what was causing me to be so tired, I found that it wasn’t just one thing or simply a result of needing more sleep.
I found this article incredibly helpful in assessing the ways I feel tired and the ways I can respond. https://ideas.ted.com/the-7-types-of-rest-that-every-person-needs/
This Sunday the global Church celebrated Pentecost, and I was reminded in my weariness that it is the Holy Spirit that strengthens us for the work that God calls us to partner with in the world.
When I feel spiritually tired, I am reminded to dwell daily in the presence of God and not to operate solely on my own strength. Today I am grateful for the reminder of the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is alive and active today in each of us.
I invite you to join me in finding some quiet time to check in on where you’re feeling weary right now and use the article as a guide if it’s helpful. You can also follow our Instagram for more practices of rest this week.
May you find the rest you need to continue the good work that you are called to do in the world.

Morning:
Help me to remember that you are the God of all, your power and presence does not belong to just one nation or one tongue, to one race or one culture.
Forgive me for the ways I have believed my way is the only way and believed my voice is the only voice. In doing so I have quenched your Holy Spirit and contributed to the violence in the world around us.
For the grace to live in grateful humility, I look to you.
For the many small blessings and beauties that surround me, I am thankful.
Amen.
Evening:
Ignite in me a warmth and welcome so I may always see you and feel your presence in my family and in my neighbor.
You have poured out Your Spirit so liberally and so continually, like a wildfire that cannot be contained, setting aglow wonders in the sky above and embers on the earth below.
May the rhythms of my prayers, my pleas for justice, and my thanksgiving become, in time, like a steady drumbeat in a long and unending song of your faithfulness, God.
Amen.
